ACF for patients
Every cancer is one too many. With patients central to everything we do, we support promising non-commercial research, seek new and better treatment options, and engage in comprehensive knowledge sharing.
Why a fund is needed
While our healthcare system prioritises cancer care, not all forms of cancer receive the same level of attention. Treatments are increasingly expensive, and research progress lags behind. Where are we making progress and where are we failing to meet patient needs?
With patients at the heart of everything we do, the Anticancer Fund supports scientific research into new treatment options while also collecting and disseminating information to clinicians and patients alike.
Curing patients: our sole objective
The Anticancer Fund aims to fill the gaps in the cancer treatment landscape and offer more options to patients by supporting high-value research. These treatments, developed independently of commercial concerns, are based on excellent science and strong collaborations. We seek to cure patients, and the sooner, the better.
Independent, open-minded, patient-oriented research
As an independent not-for-profit cancer research foundation, the Anticancer Fund believes that there are many potential cancer treatment options yet to explore.
To this end, the Anticancer Fund:
brings scientists, clinicians, policymakers, patients and other stakeholders together to promote promising treatment avenues with little commercial value but high patient interest;
supports and finances clinical trials that directly impact patients – high-quality, evidence-based and globally relevant;
freely informs patients about treatment options and available clinical trials relevant to their specific cases.
How can you help?
We are passionate about our independence. With no commercial shareholders, we are completely committed to patients. We require substantial private support to maintain this independence. Your donations make a significant impact on the war against cancer, as 100% of your funds go directly to research projects. The Anticancer Fund also works with small and large-scale cancer foundations and initiatives to ensure the most efficient and effective use of donation money.
The role of the ACF in clinical trials
We indirectly aid patients by being involved in clinical trials as the doorway to new therapeutic options. Patient benefit is a key selection criteria when it comes to the trials that we choose to support. However, as an intermediary, we are not directly involved with patients. We collaborate with clinicians, researchers, institutions, hospitals and other stakeholders to setup and support clinical trials.
**DISCLAIMER: The Anticancer Fund (the ACF) does not provide medical advice and our information does not replace medical consultation. The ACF does not enrol patients in clinical trials. For more information on participating in a trial supported by the ACF, please contact the coordinator of the trial.**
