Mediterranean diet

The Mediterranean diet is a food pattern consisting of a high intake of fruit, vegetables, whole-grains, beans, fish, nuts and seeds, and olive oil; a low intake of foods rich in sugars and saturated, animal fats, red and processed meat, poultry and dairy products; and a moderate intake of red wine during meals.

Lacto-ovo-vegetarian diet

It is claimed that a vegetarian diet supplemented by dairy products and eggs may be beneficial in patients with gastrointestinal cancers.

Moerman Therapy

The Moerman diet is promoted as an anti-cancer, immune-building diet that consists of only eggs and vegetables (lacto-ovo-vegetarian) supplemented by eight essential substances: vitamins A, B, C, E, and iodine, sulphur, iron, citric acid.

Breuss Cancer Cure

The Breuss Cancer Cure is a strict diet consisting of a 42-day fast during which only vegetable juices and teas are consumed. It is claimed that cancers feed and survive on solid foods, but there is no reliable scientific data to support this claim.

Budwig diet

The Budwig diet consists of a lacto-vegetarian regimen that has at its core a mixture combining flaxseed with cottage cheese or quark.

Gerson Therapy

The Gerson therapy regards cancer as a consequence of an accumulation of toxic substances in the body. It consists of a diet of organic fruits and vegetables to promote nutrition, supplements to help the metabolism, and regular coffee enemas for detoxification.

Macrobiotic diet

The macrobiotic diet is essentially a specific vegetarian form of nutrition and life-style.

Ornish diet

The Ornish diet and lifestyle modification programme combines a supplemented vegan diet with exercise, stress management, and group support sessions.
